All About TEAM FOR KIDS

Team for Kids was established in 2002. Funds raised through Team for Kids provide free or low-cost and community-based health and fitness programs to children who wold otherwise have no accesss to regular physical activity. Currently, their programs serve nearly 100,000 children in more than 400 schools across, NYC, the nation (in every state), and South Africa. With obesity still on the rise, NYRR's youth services equip children with the tools they need to become physiclly fit for life, while also incorporating goal-setting, character-building, and nutrition education.

Team For Kids Commitment toYouth and Community Services
TFK recognizes that children who engage in regular physical activity are healthier, perform better in school, and have greater self-confidence. What began as a small effort in 1998 to provide fitness programming to 15 children in Brooklyn has blossomed into a national and international effort to transform the lives of tens of thousands of children, many of whom have no access to the regular physical activity they need to live healthy, productive lives.
Their signature youth programs – Mighty Milers and Young Runners – bring fitness and wellness opportunities to the low-income youth that need them most. Having proven successful in New York City, these programs now reach 100,000 children across the nation and in South Africa. As the childhood obesity epidemic grows increasingly urgent, and the invaluable lessons derived from physical education are lost to budget cuts, these vital programs enable children to take better care of their bodies, minds, and spirits.
